2018: a successful year for Incofin Microfinance Fund Technical Assistance

2018 was a successful year for Incofin Microfinance Fund Technical Assistance (TA). Every year, Incofin Microfinance Fund sets aside EUR 100,000 to co-finance projects that help its financial partners deliver effective and inclusive services in order to improve people’s lives. In 2018, Incofin Microfinance Fund approved three new projects, including a project on scaling up mobile and agent banking solutions with Advans Côte d’Ivoire, a project with ACME which will help micro entrepreneurs in Haiti improve their living conditions through solar energy and a project with Juhudi Kilimo which will help Kenyan farmers bridge the need for cash in case of emergency. The microinsurance project in Nicaragua was successfully finalized, effectively protecting nearly 6,000 farmers against drought and excess rain through index insurance.

Since 2011, Incofin Microfinance Fund has supported 18 TA projects in 16 countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia. In addition to improving risk management, social performance and other types of organizational practices at microfinance institutions, Incofin Microfinance Fund projects help to introduce new products and delivery channels. This effective support has positively impacted close to 500,000 rural entrepreneurs. In 2019, Incofin Microfinance Fund will continue providing TA support to its partners in order to maximize the “impact dividend” to its shareholders.
