Our ambition
To support 900,000 smallholder farmers by financing agri-enterprises that build climate resilience and food security across Africa and Latin America.

Launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 crisis, this fund was initiated by KfW and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), with Incofin selected to design and manage it. It provided emergency liquidity to agri-SMEs, cooperatives, and microfinance institutions across Africa and Latin America – including Fairtrade Access Fund investees and CSAF members – to protect smallholder farmers and stabilize sustainable value chains.

In 2024, with renewed KfW support, the fund was extended. Its mission now goes beyond short-term relief to driving long-term impact: strengthening food security, enabling climate adaptation, and supporting systemic actors in agri-food value chains. With climate resilience as a core focus, the fund helps agri-enterprises tackle both market and environmental risks.

What we invest in:

Agri-SMEs and aggregators across the food value chain

Fairtrade and sustainable farmer cooperatives

Agri-lenders (e.g. CSAF members)

Exporters supporting smallholder markets

Thanks to the trust of BMZ and KfW, we have been able to go beyond emergency response and design a facility that supports long-term resilience in food systems. Incofin is proud to continue managing this fund with a sharpened focus on climate and inclusion.
